Borderland Vineyard
Borderland Vineyard™ is a vineyard and soon a winery established by the Kalb family on the family farm in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. In 2006 Kurt Kalb began revitalizing the agricultural areas of the farm that his parents Janet and George Kalb bought in 1946. Starting in 2008, Kurt planted the first vinifera grapevines and has been slowly expanding the vineyard every Spring with the help of family and friends. The establishment of Borderland Vineyard™ has truly been a community effort.
As plans for vineyard and winery evolve, Kurt, in partnership with his sister Karen Kalb Anderson, has started production of Borderland Vineyard™ wines using grapes from nearby vineyards. Special events open to the public are planned throughout the year. Currently released wines include 2011 and 2012 unoaked Chardonnays, the 2011 Merlot (aged in French oak for 5 to 6 months), a dry 2012 Riesling, and two lighthearted wines, 2011 Preminée and 2011 Sheared Sheep Blush.
